Make sure to cut your wick to 1/4 inch every time you begin to use it. This will ensure you will have a clean burn - no soot in your air or all over your walls and pillows and such- and so that your candle wick uses the wax in your candle efficiently. We recommend using a wick trimmer to cut your wick. This makes sure you have a clean cut that maintains the integrity of the wick. We recommend only trimming wicks on cooled candles, to prevent debris from falling into the hot wax.
You want to find the perfect surface for burning. The ideal surface is even, heat safe, away from drafts, and out of reach of pets, children and wild or elaborate draperies. We love an elaborate window treatment, just keep them away from fire! To prevent tunneling in your candle we recommend burning your candle for the first time to the outer edge. Burn your candle 1 hour for every 1 inch diameter of your candle not to exceed 4 hours. You want to liquify your top layer of your candle.
Store candles in a cool, dark and dry place with the lid on to keep them clean of dust and debris, and to help protect the wax and fragrance. Highly fragrant candles have a life span of 6 to 12 months, depending on the scent. If you enjoy fragranced candles, then use and replace them often to avoid deterioration in appearance and performance.
